I own a small business which I used to run out of my home. But as things took off, I soon realized I needed retail space. So I rented a unit in a strip mall, and now things have really taken off for my exotic birds and bird supply store. There is good money in catering to people that have these exotic birds as pets.

But unlike when I was stationed out of my living room, here we have people that come into my business who have absolutely no intentions of buying anything. Of course I’m referring to the people that come into my store to get me to buy whatever it is they are selling.

Today alone I had three people come try to sell my stuff at my shop. The first one was from one of the yellow page companies. First of all there are way too many different yellow page companies as it is. Second of all, with the internet and all, who uses yellow pages anyway? The second salesperson was from that money mailer thing. Nope, I am not interested because I toss those things without even opening them. The third guy was different. I guess you can actually buy email lists of people who sign up for opt in email. These email lists guarantee you won’t end up caught in a spam blocker. Pretty cool, but I didn’t jump on board with any of these salespeople today.
