I went on a blind date with a guy my best friend Lara set me up with. Lara did not really know the guy she was setting me up with; it was the whole “friend of a friend” ordeal. I was hesitant and nervous because no one I know is intimately related or acquainted with Danny (by the way, that is his name, Danny). I felt like it was being set up with someone’s regular UPS man-a man seen almost daily at work delivering packages; a man who says hello regularly and who even exchanges a few pleasantries here and there, but a man that is not familiar or closely known.
Well, Danny wasn’t Lara’s UPS guy, but it was a similar situation and like I said, she doesn’t really know Danny beyond saying he is cute, he is courteous, he has cute cross tattoos, and he has a great accent (kind of like Dante’s accent from the recent movie Sex in the City).
The date was a huge hit. We talked for hours and I enjoyed every minute of his soothing voice. I loved his tattoo designs, I loved his respectful mannerisms, and I really enjoyed his personality and similar interests. I can’t believe a blind date went so well. I sure hope I don’t discover that he is the author of Me and My Lobotomy or something crazy like that.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIt’s great that the date went so well! Did he ask to see you again at the end of it? That’s a big sign that he is interested in seeing you again. I would definitely go on another date with him if this one went so well.
I like cross tattoos too, but I think it definitely depends on why he got it. People who get cross tattoos just because they are ‘cute’ usually aren’t near as interesting as those who have a great story behind them. Do you have any tattoos too? That might help make you two get closer, since you would have it in common.
I’ve never been on a blind date before! But then again, no one has ever tried to set me up on one. I wonder if that is a sign? Ha ha. I think I would definitely try it if I trusted my friend and he/she knew what my type of guy was and what I was looking for in a relationship.
That UPS analogy is funny. There are so many people like that that I knew when I was going to college in the same city that I grew up in. I knew who people were, but I never really knew them. It also made me think of my mom- she dated a guy in high school who is now ironically my aunt’s (her sister’s) UPS guy! How weird is that?
I love accents like that! I’m sure his voice was really soothing. It’s so hard to believe that when Americans go to another country (or even another part of our own country), we are the ones that have the accent! But anyway, yes, accents are definitely a turn-on!
