Since I live in Arizona, a lot of people ask me why I got a hot tub rather than a pool.  I get it.  AZ has pool weather for a good portion of the year, and if you get a heated pool, well it’s pretty much useful year-round.

My personal preference, though, is to spend time in the cold, and I find that time is most enjoyable in a Jacuzzi or some sort of hot tub.

Then, there are the simple semantics of each one.  Hot tubs are smaller, and, therefore, a little bit easier to maintain, keep clean and keep safe.  I don’t exactly need a hot tub guy to come once a week or even once a month to clean it for me, which eliminates the possibility of many SOAP opera situations.

I guess the deal breaker for me was finding out about the relative simplicity of portable spas.  They actually are conceivably portable.  Even an aboveground pool, on the other hand, I just cannot imagine being very portable without a lot of hard work and/or a lot of money.

Maybe I’m missing out on some great pool things, but the hot tub is working for me, so I’m not going to complain.
