Have you ever been to a Mexican restaurant and there are these random niches in the wall?  I mean a sort of opening or indent that clearly looks like it was intended to have something there, but there just isn’t anything?  Sometimes they’re inside; sometimes they’re outside.  But they both annoy and fascinate me.

I find those things really fascinating because I wonder if they don’t intend those to be like maybe for an altar to bless the building when it opened.  My imagination even goes wild thinking that there are periodic ceremonies held there for some festival or something.  Maybe they put all the trappings for Day of the Dead there-who knows?  But otherwise, the places just leave them blank.

They could at least put plants there.  Or an outdoor garden wall fountains.  You know, something neat, which would get people in a happy mood.  Well-lit water wall fountains are so very cool…but these places just leave them totally blank, dirty and dead-looking.  And that just sort of looks like neglect…and then you think that maybe they’re neglecting the food.  Or at least I do.  So put a raffia donkey, a painting, or a clay pot there, would ya?
