As a member of the Board of Directors of my communities Homeowner’s Association, we are tasked with assuring the safety of our community. Neighborhoods are victims of vandalism by teenagers and targets for more sinister criminals with burglaries and break ins.  Our Homeowner’s Association voted to hire a security guard to do routine patrols around the neighborhood five nights a week including weekends. After several cars were stolen and three homes were broken into, we felt justified to allocate funds to improve security measures.  We also approved installation of security cameras at both entrances to our community and on lamp posts every two blocks within the neighborhood.

By taking these steps to prevent theft and vandalism, we felt we were working in the best interest of our neighbors and protecting our property values. Taking these measures proved to be the deterrent needed to eliminate problems in our neighborhood. The security guard monitored a cctv camera which took pictures from various surveillance cameras placed on lamp posts throughout the neighborhood.

It didn’t take long before we realized how successful our measures were. No new incidents of theft or vandalism were reported and the neighbors were glad for our swift response to the threats.
