hair loss in women

Hair loss is upsetting to many men, but I’m afraid that doesn’t even begin to describe how a woman feels when she starts to lose her hair.  In our society, female identity is almost irreversibly bound together with physical beauty and traits such as her hair.  As a result, losing one’s hair can make a woman feel like she is losing a significant part of what makes her feminine.

Hair loss isn’t as common in women as it is in men, but it does happen — more frequently than most women would like, I’m sure.  Typically, hair loss is caused by hormones interrupting the hair follicle’s growth cycle, which happens repeatedly and eventually leads to permanent hair loss.  But with women, the causes are a little bit different — often triggered by things such as diseases.

Not all hair loss in women is permanent — often it is temporary, caused by short-lived imbalances in hormone levels (such as after having a baby or losing weight too quickly), diseases such as thyroid disorders which can be controlled with drugs, and other temporary causes.  However, sometimes women experience permanent and severe hair loss and thinning, which they may want to consider hair transplantation to correct.

The hair replacement cost isn’t as prohibitory as you might think, thankfully for those who are afflicted.  For women as much as or even more so than men, hair replacement systems can help you to save face by avoiding something as embarrassing as hair loss.
