Although human stem cell research is now back on track thanks to a new president taking office, this research has been delayed for the eight years the Bush Administration was in power, so there’s no telling when there will be a cure for Alzheimer’s, or even more effective treatments for this dreaded disease. That’s one reason why Alzheimer’s training DVDs are so useful to home health care workers. Face it; if you work in the home health care industry long enough, you’re bound to encounter some clients with Alzheimer’s.

In fact, knowing how to care for and manage Alzheimer’s patients will probably become a growth industry until the inevitable cure is found for this ghastly condition that robs patients of their minds, memories and personalities.  Frankly, training in caring for Alzheimer’s patients should be a regular part of the caregiver education that any home health care agency gives to its staff and new hires, and should be among the family caregiver resources of anyone who is looking at caring for an elderly friend or relative in the near future. It is shocking how many people are inflicted with Alzheimer’s today.
