The other day, I was talking to a friend of mine from Canada. I was at his house and he was showing me a bunch of mementos from college. He showed me his university diploma that he received in Sports Managem
ents and various photos of him and his buddies. I then was telling him about how that I never got a college diploma frame for my college degree and he says to me, “that’s not a big deal. Who cares about college?” I thought he was joking, and he said, “You would have to be an utter moron to not graduate college.” Of course, I then went on the defensive and started telling him how that my 4.0 in Computer Programming would hold a lot more weight in the real world than his degree in Sports Management.
He then looks at me like I have dribbled all over my shirt. My friend then asks me if I meant that I never got my university diploma framed. I had forgotten that in Canada, college is high school. When I remembered that fact, the rest made sense. I got to remember the language difference between nations. Some of the other countries might speak English, but it’s still not necessarily the same language.
