I think that there’s a stereotype that parent’s cry and wish forlornly that their kids would stick around just a little bit longer. We’re supposed to wander the empty rooms clutching their baby boy bedding or cry when we find an old cloth diaper last used as a dust rag. Not me!
I’m really excited! I’m scared, too, but I was scared at kindergarten, middle school and high school, too. I’m thoroughly ready for them to achieve the next stage of their lives. I can almost feel how this stage (high school) has maxxed itself out, and even having them around the house seems standing still somehow.
And I’m really excited for graduation! I have friends and family flying out for the ceremony, which will be held at Douglas County High School. They stay at the house, and we all have a lot of fun together even after the ceremony. I want to show them a lot of the sites here in Colorado, and I just have to figure what will please both the small children and the old folk…but without leaving everyone gasping for air in our altitude. Pike’s Peak has a lot to offer, from a Cog Railway to Cave of the Winds to a small quaint town to a zoo. Graduation? I can’t wait!
