When my eight year old daughter had to spend the day with one of her parents at work for a school project, I was surprised that she chose to go with her father rather than me. I ran a small bookstore and she was always clamoring to spend time there while she had never once showed any interest in going with her father to his factory. In her eyes books were way more fun than multi spindle lathes. When I asked why she chose to go with her Dad, she told me it was for fairness! She already knew my business inside out, so she wanted to give her father’s a chance. And off she went with protective goggles in hand to learn all about multi spindle machines.

I was a bit nervous when they set off, imagining her getting injured by an automatic lathe, but I should have known better. Safety is a number one concern of my husband’s normally and with his little princess on site, things would have been even more safe.

At the end of the day they both arrived home, exhausted. She from learning so much new stuff and him from answering the multitude of questions that she had had through out the day.
